• Carol User | 9 Sep 2011, 13:39 Wow what an experience This is my second visit in as many months, all I can tell you is, in the middle of the week I have found the staff very helpfull and friendly. The amazing feeling of being in very warm water, on a roof top overlooking Bath alone, is worth the cost of a two hour session. But then you have more to look forward to, the very hot steam pods, of which there is four and each one has a different aroma. When the power shower in the middle is working (must be on a timer) we rushed out to cool down under it. After that we then went down to the Minevera pool and relaxed again with the floats provided, bliss! It's better to take your own warmer fluffy robe, towels and slippers, and dry off as much as you can wrapping a towel around you before putting on your robe. Then if you want to eat, it's much more comfortable to be sat in a warm dry robe. Can thoroughly recommend the food, the roast veg tart was so hot I burnt my mouth! Not too sure why it's all gone wrong for some people, only thing I could find a bit disconcerting, was the wrist band on my first visit, kept loosening and I nearly lost it. So this time I asked the staff member who booked us in, to put it on for me, which he did and it was a lot tighter than I could get it, but it still came a bit loose, so just keep an eye on it. If I lived nearer I would definately be there once a month, lovely lovely, way to spend  a couple of hours!

  • Tracy User | 9 Sep 2011, 13:29 Absolutely love it here I have been to the Spa many times now and always enjoy it. Personally I feel the spa facilities are excellent value for money, and even without a treatment of any kind I leave feeling warm and relaxed. I always go for the 2 hour session, and then if we feel like some food, we get it as an extra on the day. I feel 2 hours is just the right amount of time in the spa. It's enough time to adequately enjoy all the spa has to offer. The roof top pool is amazing , so warm , even on very cold days. It can be a little chilly when getting out of warm water on a cold day, but that's all part of it in my opinion. You can soon get warm again in the steam rooms or minerva pool indoors. I will continue to visit the spa 2 or 3 times a year as it is always a treat. If I lived nearer I would be there at least once a month.!

  • Emma Brown | 9 Sep 2011, 13:27 room for improvement Mixed reviews on our visit to the spa for a friends birthday. The Minerva bath and the rooftop pool were lovely very warm, relaxing and a fabulous view over Bath. However the corridors and layout connecting all the facilities were confusing and cold, we spent time rushing from area to area as we were cold in damp robes/slippers. We paid for towels/robes as an extra but after 2 hours the towels were soaked and on enquiry if we could change them we were told only if you have paid for a treatment. We sat in the restaurant which served lovely food although seemed clinical in setting, more like a hospital canteen!  The steam room was very good although the foot spas were minus their plugs. Unfortunately there were no facilities for water to drink apart from a trickle fountain which considering the cost I felt was poor. Also the showers and changing facilities on different levels is a poor design.Overall I enjoyed my day but would not recommend the spa and will not return

  • Zoe User | 9 Sep 2011, 12:55 Great first visit I received a voucher to use the spa for Christmas 2008 and due to all sorts of things I was unable to use the voucher within the time limit. We had visited at the beginning of the year to find the spa full, my voucher was extended for another 6 months which was great.    I finally used it last night. I had a great time it was a perfect way to spend a few hours with my best friend catching up on weeks' of gossip. There were a couple of things that could be improved.    My wristband was a bit tatty and kept coming off, also it seemed to take ages to register on the locker, so a good few minutes wasted swearing at the locker system.    Hooks would be good for gowns and towels rather than the shelving units by the pools.    The food in the restaurant was delicious, but the ambience could have been so much better, it did remind us of a hospital canteen with everyone sat around in their dressing gowns, subtle lighting, darker colours etc etc.    All in all a great time and as long as you pick the time of your visit well, easy to do when you're local, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a visit.

  • Jenny User | 9 Sep 2011, 12:54 A lovely day thank you My boyfriend and I went to the spa for my birthday on 13th Oct 2010.  I cant believe some of the negative feedback on this website so just want to start by saying how polite, professional and welcoming the staff were, as well as how much we enjoyed the excellent facilities.  Despite not booking, reception staff were able to offer me an express massage at late notice (best massage I have had in a long time!) The different steam rooms and cooler showers were a perfect treatment combination from the rooftop pool before heading downstairs to the minerva bath.  We also enjoyed a lovely lunch in the restaurant, where although it was a little pricey, the service was prompt and food was of a good quality.    I would highly recommend to all my friends!

  • Liz User | 9 Sep 2011, 11:58 Absolute Perfection WOW! What can I say...it was a perfect day that I spent at Thermae Bath Spa.    I booked a four hour package for £95, which included lunch and 2 treatments, which I increased up to 3. My four hours turned into six and a half hours of pampering perfection.  I decided to treat myself for my birthday, and what a treat it was! All the facilities, and especially the rooftop pool, were simply amazing, as was the service I received from the wonderful spa treatment staff.  I am looking forward to my next visit, hopefully in the near future.

  • Jenny Rolf | 9 Sep 2011, 11:57 Romantic birthday treat My boyfriend purchased the twilight package for the two of us - we arrived at the spa for 4.30pm on a Friday and headed straight to the minerva bath which was fantastic - the temperature of the water was perfect and we were able to float on the lazy river and relax in the bubbles. The steam rooms were by far the best I have ever been in, four steam rooms each fragranced with a different oil - hot and cold showers were close by and individual foot baths for extra relaxation. The views from the rooptop pool were spectacular, your eyes focus on the skyline of bath and it's totally tranquil, lovely and warm and extremely romantic (if you're with the person you love that is!). Our package included dinner and a drink, the service was quick and polite and the food was delicious - both the pork and salmon main meals left us feeling revigorated but not full, they were healthy and extremely well prepared. We chose when to enter the restaurant so the flexibility was perfect - we were 35 minutes in total having dinner. The package included towels, a robe and slippers which were all wonderfully soft and clean. Overall we both agreed we would come back before Christmas - a fantastic way to spend a lazy winter afternoon.

  • Sarah User | 9 Sep 2011, 11:55 Twilight package My fiance and I went for the twilight package, for my 30th birthday.  Thought it wouldn't be busy as we went on a Sunday, but when we arrived at 6pm we heard that we got the last two twilight package spaces.  Seems to be a balance to choose the right time for the twilight package, as the spa is busy earlier (you can arrive any time after 4pm), but the package is sold out later.  Going at 6pm, it was busy for the first hour, we were quite surprised by the number of people in the rooftop pool to start with, and couldn't get a spot near the jacuzzi bubbles, but then it cleared out fairly quickly and it was lovely and quiet later on for a beautiful sunset over Bath.    I think they've changed the way the twilight package works from reading previous reviewers, as you now get 3 hours in the spa but this has to include your time in the restaurant for dinner.  So when we went to the restaurant, ordered and then were told it would take 20 mins for our meal to come out, we weren't very pleased as this would've eaten into our spa time.  The restaurant wasn't busy at all, and all the twilight package meals seemed straight forward to make.  However, it actually only took 10 mins to arrive so not sure why they told us 20.  The salmon supreme was lovely, but the japanese prawn salad disappointing, with deep fried prawns (not what I was expecting) which were overcooked, and the promised sweet wasabi sauce tasted like ceasar dressing to me, so I think they might have run out.    Overall the spa was beautiful, clean and very relaxing.  My towel, robe and slippers (free with the package) were taken from one of the cubby holes by someone while I was in the pool (highly likely to happen I think when they all look the same), so I'd take my own towel next time just to identify it.    I agree with a previous reviewer that on your first visit the locker room and changing area is a bit chaotic when busy and not well explained on arrival, but we didn't have too much trouble working it out.  Older people may find it confusing.    Despite my small gripes we had a lovely time and would definitely return.  It's a lovely place to be when it's all lit up in the evening and I was thoroughly relaxed and refreshed, but I probably wouldn't do the twilight package again - I'd go for just an evening spa session and eat somewhere else before or after.

  • Miss L | 9 Sep 2011, 10:52 An experience I have just had a wonderful hen day at Bath Spa with some friends - the food in the restaurant was amazing and the welcoming staff on the front desk was a warm reception. The only negative on the day - which was a shame as the rest of the experience was magical - was when a spa therapist got grumpy when we asked for a fresh towel because ours were soaked through - something which the reception staff had informed us that the rest of the staff would be happy to help us with! But on the whole a wonderful day and I will definately be taking my partner back to experience the magic!

  • John Brown | 9 Sep 2011, 10:35 Excellent value for money Spent a day here with my mum - what excellent value for money. We spent the entire afternoon at the Spa and had a gorgeous lunch in their on-site restaurant.  Thoroughly recommended.

  • Mrs Rachel | 23 Feb 2011, 06:34 Food and some of the service did not match up to the facilities The baths themselves were a great experience. We were less impressed however by both the quality and quantity of food in the retaurant. Food was dry and the potatoes gave the impression of having been cooked some time in advance. Was certainly the poorest meal I have eaten out in Bath, and by no means the cheapest. Was also less than impressed by the young man at reception who mistakenly thought I had given him a £10 note and not a £20 one. At first he was quite rude;  when he discovered the mistake was his I had absolutely no apology - just my change thrust into my hand. What a shame hiis manner did not match up to that of the young ladies on duty when we arrived!
