• Lesley Anderson | 21 May 2012, 15:24 Girls trip to Spa 4 of us booked a Classic Spa afternoon - and had a very mixed experience. Lunch was terrible - the food was revolting and we left most of it (as did lots of people around us). The rooftop pool was delightful and we enjoyed the sauna. The changing rooms are not user friendly! The highlight was the treatments - the therapist are skillful and lovely. All in all, an expensive treat that wasn't really a treat at all!

  • Lauren Slack | 11 Jan 2012, 09:47 General Reveiw I visited the Spa back in October 2011 with my sister and really enjoyed myself.  A colleague knew I had visited and enjoyed myself and had read the reviews here and wanted my feedback on some of the negative ones.

I must admit I was a little surprised by some of the comments regarding poor cleanliness as when we were there the spa was immaculately presented, floors clean (albeit wet - as expected).  I was also a little surprised by the complaints about re-using a wet towel.  This is a spa experience set over many levels and there are different areas - of course your towel will be wet!  My sister and I had packed our own towels and got another on arrival so we simply re-used one during the experience and then used the fresh one after showering at the end.

I was also surprised by the comments about it being so cold.  For me this was a plus of the experience and to be honest, expected given the rooftop spa is outdoors.  When we were there it was a very sunny day in late October (so still cold) but the view of the surrounding area was quite spectacular.  The stairs to the rooftop were open when we were there so I can't comment on the lift and how slow it was.

We started our experience at the top (the rooftop) and then worked our way down through the levels.  We used all the steam rooms and I personally loved all the different smells in each of these rooms.  We did not buy anything from the restaurant so I can't comment on that.

In terms of the cubicles - yes the single ones are a little cosy however there are quite a few larger family sized ones which had more than enough space.

All in all, I really enjoyed myself here.  I thought it was exactly what it said on the tin and as expected and would definitely stop off for a bit of a pick me up next time I am shopping/having lunch in Bath!

  • Liz Austin | 6 Jan 2012, 19:54 General Review I came to the Spa for the first time just before Christmas. I had been looking forward to it and I was disappointed - I won't be coming back. The staff were very good but the layout of the spa is badly thought through - we were so cold in the end that we didn't go for a shower, as it meant dragging everything to another floor and reusing wet towels. There were plasters floating in the main pool. One of the steam rooms smelled very odd - nasty, like urine. The floors weren't very clean. The stairs to the rooftop pool were closed which meant waiting for the lift - wet through and at 4 degrees this was no fun at all. For almost the same money I could visit a spa nearer home, with 15 different experiences, and stay for 5 hours. It is also much cleaner, with a much better design. As a Bath taxpayer at the time when the complex was developed, I'd really like to know why it's is so poorly thought through, and why such an opportunity has been missed.

  • Elizabeth Parsons | 6 Nov 2011, 00:25 What a wonderful experience! My friend and I came to the Spa today. We had such a lovely time. Everyone was friendly and helpful. There were a lot of people there who all seemed to be enjoying themselves. As we did a late afternoon session we lounged in the roof top pool when there was daylight and returned later when it was dusk. can't wait for a return visit.

  • julia fawcett | 2 Nov 2011, 21:10 great day i visited the spa by my self as i had a gift voucher.
i arrived at 9am as soon as the doors were open the staff were very friendly and explained everything to me that i needed to no.
i had the hot stone vichy booked and WOW. it felt amazing the girl that did was great and very friendly . after having my treatment i then relaxed in the relaxation room and enjoyed a herbal tea and magazine , just to whind down even more .
steam rooms were amazing and good choice's of different scents.
i loved the shower in the middle very powerful.
i then ventured to the roof top pool spent a good hour in there just relaxing , water temp was just right extremely relaxing up there.
part of my package included food , the soup was amazing you could tell it was homemade i followed that by a panini very good too but by this point the soup had already filled me up. the staff were attentive and polite and explained how the menu works as i had it included in my package.
only one negative from the visit there the lockers are very strange and they are opened and closed by the wristband you are given , i think there needs to be better intsructions on how to use them there was a few other people struggling with them.
but overall i had a great time and i am so relaxed and stress free now.

  • Renata K | 30 Oct 2011, 22:54 not worth the money / needs better management That was my first time at Bath spa, we had 4 hours session on saturday afternoon, I have to say I was disapointed with the standard of this spa.  Towels, robes, slippers are not included in the price, it will cost you £9 to hire all three. The changing room is unisex, but that was not a problem, the problem was that cabins felt a bit too small, not enough hair dryers etc. For the showers and toilets and Minerva pool you have to go one floor down, then for steam rooms two floors up and for the roof pool floor up again, that would be not such a problem if stairways were nice and warm, but it was freezing cold, and not only stairways, general pool areas as well, as soon as you come out from the inside pool you feel very cold. So imagine to come out from warm pool and go up and down cold stairways in your swim suit, and if you don't hire any slipper or bring your own, you will have to walk those stairs bare foot as well. Steam rooms were nice, only two of four were hot, one hotter than other, but maybe that was an idea, to go from coldest to hotest one, the foot massagers were a joke, dont see the point of it, the main big shower in the centre was nice when it was on, but only one side of it was working, the other side was just dripping, I personaly think it disgrace, they should fix the shower at least for all the money they take. The roof pool was nice, but water could have been warmer and maybe they could have some outside heaters for when you come out of the pool in winter, because it was freezing cold and your towel gets wet from drying yourself everytime you want to go somewhere else, so when you actually ready to leave and have a shower you need another dry one. There is only a few shower cabins as well, so you may need to wait to have a shower, and after you had one you will have to go up stairs again to the changing room. We did not have any treatments or used the restaurant so can not comment on  that, but in general there is a lack of good standard, can't really comment on staff, did not see them a lot, lady in reception was friendly, everyone working there was very young. Would not go there again, not worth the money and I have been to better spas with higher standard.

  • Laura Oliveira | 13 Oct 2011, 12:52 BAD MANAGEMENT BAD FOOD, VERY DIRTY BAD MANAGEMENT BAD FOOD, VERY DIRTY - I have been to several SPA's in Europe ( Italy, Spain, Swiss, Austria ) and this is the worst ! They don't have hair caps, so the first thing we encountered entering the roof pool was hair on the floor, then a hair band with hair by the pool. The water could be hotter and with less chlorine. There is a long wait between the water jets and bubbles turning on and off, in both pools, so you have to wait for the next session for quite some time ( also the ceiling seems to be leaking from the roof pool and in a bad state .)  The Kraxen Stove did not work properly, and in our party of four, one did not work at all and another over heated,( burning my friend ) we called the staff and they offered me another session, ( my burned friend declined ! ) but within 10 minutes she came back to tell me my time was over in a very rude way ( normal time is 16 minutes ) saying that I already had 5 minutes from the previous session, the one that did not work !  The food was really bad, The starter we had was of olives, nuts and vegetable crisps, and the nuts were burned; then for main , I ordered chicken and lentil curry,  the chicken was very hard and dry ( it has been overcooked and it did not look fresh ) and the lentils were hard and undercooked ! we called the manager that could verify it and he offered to give me something else - I decided for a green salad, a much easier choice to get wrong; our friends had a mixed platter ( average ) and a desert that seems to be directly from a supermarket , a terrible chocolate tart very cold and a lemon mousse , very buttery and heavy on cream. They should offer a much better quality and lighter food. Most of the staff at the restaurant were very young and slow , with no proper training ( I have been in the restaurant business as a manager for several years ) though kind ( The young man who served us very kindly and promptly called the manager to check on my food ).  The only good thing was the quality of the massage I personally had with Shay, ( though my friends did not rate theirs as the best ) . On the way out the staff were rude and I waited behind the turnstile for her to come and tell me I could go. WILL NOT RETURN OR RECOMMEND ! We have been there yesterday October 12th, 2011.
